Access Statement
Katoomba is a traditional beach chalet and whilst it has been modernised over the years it is still on its original footprint. Whilst we would love to be welcoming to everyone unfortunately Katoomba is not wheelchair friendly and due to space limitations may not be suitable for those guests who require assistance with activities of daily living.
If you have any questions about the suitablilty of Katoomba, we would encourgae you to contact us prior to booking. Our guests experience is extremely important to us, and we would never encourage someone to book if we did not think it was suitable. We would always try and help find an alternative if this is more appropriate.
We offer free unlimited Wi-Fi.
Parking
Parking is available outside Katoomba, this is not allocated but is plentiful.
The surface may not be level as cars park on the grassy sand dunes and this has natural bumps and rabbit holes.
Entry
There is one step on to the main path, then another step up to either the decking (through a gate), with patio door, or one other step to the main front door. These are both visible on the main chalet photo on the photos page on the website.
There are 2 doors to access Katoomba. The main front door with a thumb turn lock for emergency escape, which enters the hallway, and the slightly wider patio door with a thumb turn lock for emergency escape. which enters the wider living area.
Decking
The outside decking can be slippery when wet, but we are due to re stain it with non-slip stain.
There is a table and 4 chairs, and a storage bench seat by the patio door to aid removing wet shoes.
Inside
Katoomba has original narrow doorways and has a small step down to both bedrooms and the bathroom.
The windows are classed as escape windows but cannot be relied on for emergency exit due to the exit area at the rear. Able bodied people may be able to use them, but in the event of being trapped 30 minute fire doors have been fitted to the bedrooms. Our fire escape plans always recommends people to evacuate the buliding.
